Is the watch authentic?
Best of Time does not deal in replicas or non-authentic merchandise. Every pre-owned Rolex is thoroughly inspected, cleaned, polished and serviced by one of our full-time certified watchmakers. Upon receiving your watch, Best of Time allows you a 14-Day timeframe in which you may take your purchase to your own local jeweler to verify its authenticity. Also, when you purchase a pre-owned watch from us, it will come with a Certificate of Appraisal, which will include the serial number, reference number, and certified appraisal amount for the watch.
Why should I purchase a Pre-Owned Rolex?
Like many upscale items, a new Rolex watch will depreciate in value immediately after it is purchased. By purchasing a pre-owned Rolex, you can avoid this initial depreciation. After their initial purchase, pre-owned luxury timepieces greatly hold their value and are usually worth more than their original cost later in time.
Are you a registered Rolex dealer and how do I know you are reputable?
Best of Time is not an official dealer of Rolex. Being that we are not authorized dealers, we are not bound by any price restraints. This allows us the freedom to give you a significant discount. All our products do however come DIRECTLY from authorized dealers or respected industry wholesalers. Also, you can enjoy our 3-Year Diamond Level warranty, which is considerably longer then an authorized dealership.
You can rest assured that we are reputable because we are currently a member of The International Watch and Jewelry Guild, The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, and many other respected organizations. We also have storefronts throughout Atlanta, GA, where you can physically go to visit our wide selection of jewelry.
Where do you get your watches from?
We get all of our watches through a network of dealers that we have established over many years. We would not be able to supply you with a steady source without this network. When you call or e-mail us inquiring about a watch, occasionally we will have to check with our network about availability. Many customer requests have been for rare items, and for this reason, we kindly request your patience. We only deal with reputable people, and we want to assure you that you are receiving the highest quality jewelry.
What is the condition of the pre-owned watches you sell?
Almost all of the watches we sell are in first-rate, excellent, or "like new" condition. Our definition of excellent condition consists of the following: The case, band, bezel, and crystal must not have any visible scratches. The crystal and bezel may be replaced with new Swiss-made non-Rolex items if need be. The scratch resistant sapphire crystals are purchased from the same factory Rolex obtains their crystals from. In reference to the band, you may notice some stretch between the links if compared to a brand new watch, however, it will be very minor. All our watches are thoroughly inspected, cleaned, professionally polished, maintained, and should offer you many years of service. We do improve and change crystals, worn links, hands, and dials as needed.
Is it standard practice to make customizations to a Rolex timepiece?
Yes, customizing Rolex timepieces is standard practice. We normally change the face color, band, and case with genuine Rolex parts. Diamonds and precious stones are added domestically. Typically, these are done so well that it is very hard to tell that Rolex itself did not set them. Also because of this, we can offer you the look you want at a fraction of the cost. We also offer original Rolex set dials and bezels as well. If you have any questions about how we set our timepieces, please do not hesitate to contact us by clicking here.
Do you guarantee authenticity?
Yes, we guarantee authenticity of your watch 100%, if you are not satisfied with your purchase in any way, you may return the watch back within 14 days for a full refund, or within 30 days for an exchange for another authentic Rolex watch. Please refer to our exclusive 14-Day Buyer's Insurance Policy and our 30 Day Return Policy on our Certificate of Satisfaction/Returns page.
if i take the watch to my local jeweler and he/she says that the watch is not real, can i return it?
If you take the watch to a master watchmaker who specializes in pre-owned Swiss watches and ask for a statement of authenticity in writing, we guarantee that the statement will come back certifying the authenticity of the watch. If you are still unsatisfied for any reason whatsoever with your watch, you may send it back while still within the terms of our money-back or exchange policies.
how does one check the authenticity of a rolex watch?
We recommend that your watchmaker check for this. He/she will have to remove the bracelet to look at the model and serial numbers that are located at 6 and 12 o'clock position and remove the back case to look up the mechanism. Those are the main steps of authentication process.
If you take the watch to a jeweler who sells brand new watches or any person who does not specialize in pre-owned watch repair, then you may not be able to get an accurate opinion, and we would highly advise you to check with someone else.
Will my jeweler give me the same appraised value?
The appraisal that you will receive with the watch is for your house insurance purposes. If the watch gets lost or stolen, that's the paper that you take to your insurance company. Your local watchmaker may give you a higher or lower appraised value, as an appraised value is opinion based and there are lots of elements that factor in the appraised value, some being personal opinion. At Best of Time, however, we strive to bring you the lowest, most objective appraisal prices.
Are those real diamonds?
All diamonds are custom added by a 3rd party and are not set by Rolex. Diamond accessories from Rolex are very expensive, and we would rather pass those savings on to you.. For example, a diamond bezel can cost around $5,000.00 alone, and a diamond dial about $2,000.00 alone. This watch can cost around $7,000.00 more set by Rolex. We don't want you to pay more, when you can get the same high-quality diamonds available for half the price.
will rolex service a watch with aftermarket diamond accessories?
Some Authorized Rolex dealers do and some do not. Some do accept watches with diamond bezels and not with diamond dials; you should contact your local watch master and ask about their policies.
Will Rolex service this watch?
Any master watchmaker will be happy to service your watch for you; it's far less expensive than sending it to Rolex, and can offer comparable services.
What is the difference between the Rolex Date and Datejust models?
The difference is very small. The case of the Date model is 34mm, which is 2mm smaller than the case of the Datejust at 36mm. Also, the DateJust model is available with the Jubilee or Oyster bracelet, while the Date is only available with the Oyster bracelet. To learn about all of the various Rolex Models, please refer to our About Rolex Models page..
What does "Quick Set" refer to?
There are a few classifications of Quick Sets, listed as the following:
What do you mean by saying the watches have "Sapphire Crystals?"
We mean that newer Rolex watches have a glass-like "Sapphire" crystal. Older Rolex models have a hard plastic "Acrylic" crystal.
What is the difference between a Chronometer and a Chronograph?
This is a very common question since people often confuse the two. While their names may sound similar, these terms have very little in common.
A chronograph is a timepiece that, in addition to the normal time telling functions, also performs a separate time measuring function such as a stop watch - with a separate seconds hand which can be started, stopped and reset to zero, via push-buttons on the side of the case. Please do not confuse 'chronographs' with 'complications'. While all chronographs can be considered complications, not all complications are in fact chronographs.
What do 'complications' mean when referring to a wristwatch?
A complication is described as any additional function the wristwatch performs beyond basic time telling (i.e. hour, minute and second). A common example of wristwatch complications are calendar models which display the day/date. Additional complications include chronograph models, whereas the watch performs like a basic "stop watch" (as described above). Other complications worth mentioning are: second time zone, moonphase and alarms.
What languages are available on the "day wheel" of the Day-Date "President"?
The "day wheel" on the Day-Date is available in the following 26 languages: English, German, Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Spanish, Basque, Catalan, Ethiopian, Finnish, French, Greek, Hebrew, Dutch, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Moroccan, Norwegian, Farsi, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Turkish.

Yes, we do! If we accept an order from you with a non-US based address, we will contact you to inform you of any additional costs for shipping and handling, if necessary.
How do I find a copy of the Buyer's Insurance free 14 Day Return Policy?
You may click here to view the Buyer's Insurance Return Policy. Alternatively, you can click on the Certificate of Satisfaction image on any product page to view the insurance certificate.
I also see that you also offer a 30 Day Exchange Guarantee. What is the difference between the 14 day Buyer's Insurance and the 30 Day Exchange Guarantee?
The difference is that all 30-Day exchanges will require the pre-payment of the return delivery cost, and the 14-Day returns do not. Also, 30-Day exchanges are just that - we allow you to exchange your watch for another one that we may have in stock; the 14-day Insurance policy allows you to return the watch you purchased for a full refund. Once the Arrival Inspection Dept. clears the watch for the refund, the order will forward to the refund department for a full refund. The watch and original box and packaging must arrive back at the Best of Time Distribution Center in New re-saleable condition.
You must call or email customer service within the first 30 days after receiving the watch starting with the day that you received the watch. You will then be allowed to select another watch we have in stock and exchange the one you have for it.
I see that you offer the "Buyer's Insurance" Trial. What's the catch?
The "Buyer's Insurance" allows you to buy the watch for 14 days and return the watch at no cost. You will be fully reimbursed after the watch has arrived back at the Best of Time Distribution Center and has completed the return-arrival inspection. The order will forward to the refund department for a full refund. The watch must be in the ORIGINAL box and packaging and must arrive back at the Best of Time Distribution Center in new re-saleable condition.
Please note that there is no return delivery cost as long as you initiate the return of the watch from the first 14 days after receiving the watch. If you are not completely satisfied with the watch for any reason at all, please email customer service within the first 14 days starting with the day that you received the watch and we will bring it back and provide you with a full refund.
